MEET THE MEN BEHIND THE MISSION...
Friends in high school, class of '78 (that's the 20th century), hadn't spoken in decades, then they reconnected not long ago, and Dan asked Scotty to join him on this amazing project.

Daniel J. Hagberg's life has been shaped by a simple conviction: God is faithful.
Raised in a family that valued faith, hard work, and integrity, Daniel learned early the importance of character, perseverance, and trust in God. At the age of five, he made a personal commitment to follow Jesus Christ. Though he could not have imagined where that decision would lead, it became the foundation upon which the rest of his life would be built.
Daniel enjoyed his high school years, playing hockey, building lifelong friendships, and purchasing his first car—a 1970 Plymouth Road Runner. During a high school art class, he met a fellow student named Scotty Roberts. At the time, neither young man could have imagined that their paths would cross again decades later, just in time for the writing and development of The Oracle Bible. Looking back, it is difficult not to see the hand of God's providence at work.
During his time at Pillsbury Bible College, God brought another extraordinary blessing into his life. There he met Rebecca Winegar, a talented musician, cheerful cheerleader, and devoted follower of Christ. Their friendship soon blossomed into a lifelong partnership built on faith, love, and a shared commitment to follow wherever God chose to lead.
Together, Daniel and Rebecca launched a music ministry, recording two albums and using their gifts to encourage and minister to others. Those early years of serving side by side established a foundation that would carry them through the many adventures, challenges, opportunities, and blessings that lay ahead.
Over the years, their partnership would become one of the defining blessings of Daniel's life and ministry.
After attending Pillsbury Bible College, Daniel and Rebecca were married. Daniel began his professional career with The Prudential as an insurance agent. Within a year, he was promoted to Division Sales Manager and later served as Marketing Development Manager, beginning a business career that would eventually span decades of leadership, innovation, and executive responsibility.
Daniel pursued both academic and professional excellence, earning an MBA in Marketing and later a Ph.D. in Business Management with a minor in Economics. He also completed executive studies in Strategic Planning at the prestigious Wharton School of Business.
His career eventually led to senior executive leadership positions within the financial services industry, including serving as Senior Vice President at Allianz. Success brought opportunity, responsibility, and influence.
Yet success came with a cost.
As professional achievements accumulated, Daniel often found himself traveling constantly, working in multiple cities each week, pursuing goals that demanded more and more of his time and energy. During those years, his mother's sage words proved increasingly true: “There are no U-Hauls behind hearses.”
Years of relentless travel, demanding schedules, and the pressures of executive leadership eventually took a toll on his health. Daniel found himself facing a sobering reality when his physician warned him that if he continued at the same pace, he could suffer a massive heart attack or stroke within a matter of weeks.
The next day, he resigned.
It was one of the most difficult decisions he ever made. He had spent years building a successful career, investing in his education, pursuing professional excellence, and achieving goals that many only dream of attaining. Walking away from it all was neither easy nor painless.
For the first time in many years, Daniel found himself asking a different question: What does God want me to do now?
Stepping away from a successful corporate career, Daniel spent the following year seeking God's direction for the next chapter of his life. During that season, he sensed what seemed almost like an inaudible voice urging him to return to seminary. At first he dismissed the thought, but when the prompting returned, he listened. Having learned that when God speaks, it is wise to pay attention, Daniel enrolled in Newburgh Theological Seminary, where he earned a doctorate in theology with a minor in counseling.
That decision launched more than twenty-five years of pastoral ministry. As a pastor, teacher, counselor, and student of Scripture, Daniel devoted himself to helping others understand God's Word. Through years of preaching, teaching, counseling, and study, he became increasingly convinced that the Bible is not merely a collection of stories but one unified account of God's redemptive plan centered on Jesus Christ.
Then, in May 2025, during a difficult season of life, Daniel found himself awake in a hospital room in the early hours of the morning. As the quiet sounds of the hospital echoed through the darkness, his thoughts turned once again to Scripture and to the countless people who longed to understand it more deeply.
A vision began to form.
He imagined readers feeling the heat of Egypt's desert sands beneath their feet as Israel journeyed toward freedom. He imagined them standing beneath the stars outside Bethlehem as angels announced the birth of the Messiah. He wanted them to breathe the salt air of the Sea of Galilee, hear the creaking of fishing boats against wooden docks, walk the dusty roads of Judea, and stand in the crowded streets of Jerusalem.
He imagined them hearing the voices of merchants in busy marketplaces, smelling bread fresh from stone ovens, feeling the tension of crowded temple courts, and experiencing the sights, sounds, and emotions of Scripture as though they were there.
Most of all, he wanted them to walk beside Jesus—to hear His words, witness His miracles, stand at the foot of His cross, gaze into His empty tomb, and discover how every page of Scripture ultimately points to Him.
The result was The Oracle Bible.
More than a collection of stories, The Oracle Bible is an invitation to step into the world of Scripture, encounter its people and places, and see the unfolding story of redemption through fresh eyes. Daniel's prayer is that every reader who opens these pages will come away with a greater love for God's Word, a deeper understanding of His redemptive plan, and a closer walk with the Lord Jesus Christ.
Daniel and his wife, Rebecca, make their home in Andover, Minnesota, on Majestic Oaks Golf Course. When he is not studying, writing, teaching, or spending time with family, Daniel still enjoys the thrill of fast cars.
